We are now using 4g networks. But it is time for the faster 5g. Bharti Airtel and Chinese manufacturer Huawei had conducted India’s first 5G network trial and it has been successfully completed in Manesar, Gurgaon.
Abhay Savargaonkar, the director of networks at Bharti Airtel, said that the testing is small step in next generation 5G mobile networks, which will offer data speed 100 times faster than 4G networks.
“The promise of 5G is endless; it will be a game changer, and it will change the way we live, work and engage,” Abhay Savargaonkar said. “We look forward to working closely with our partners for developing a robust 5G ecosystem in India.”
India plans to provide 5G network services for consumers upto 2020 and to achieve this the government had set up a high-level forum that will evaluate and approve roadmaps and plans to bring in the latest technology in the country, in September this year. Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan also recently said that telecom department was expected to finalise a roadmap for 5G services by June this year
During the testing, consumers noted that it achieved speed of 3 GBPS. Airtel’s efforts to be the first telecom operator to provide 5G technology is not limited to its collaboration p Ericsson and Nokia. It recently partnered with South Korean firm SK Telecom to build advanced telecom network and together work in developing 5G technology.
So we can hope 5G to launch by 2020 in India.
